Martin Jones presents "In Concert" in Slider Recital Hall


Classical pianist Martin Jones will present "Form and Emotion in Virtuosic Piano Music" at 7:00pmCT Tuesday, March 31, 2009, in W.W. Slider Humanities Center Recital Hall His performance is part of the 2008-09 Lindsey Wilson Cultural Affairs Series. Jones will perform works by Mendelssohn, Chopin, Albeniz and others


Played with BBC Symphony Orchestra

Jones is a professional British concerto soloist and recording artist. He travels through Britain, Russia, the United States and Canada with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Norman Del Mar. Jones has given many performances for radio stations in Russia, Ireland, Berlin and Australia, as well as regular BBC Radio performances.

Jones was a chorister at Magdalene College School and studied at the Royal Academy of Music. Jones first made an appearance on the music scene in 1968 when he received the Dame Myra Award. He made his London debut at Queen Elizabeth Hall and his New York debut at Carnegie Hall.

Has recorded for Nimbus Records

Jones has recorded for Nimbus Records and his work has appeared on the Howards End soundtrack.

Jones' repertoire includes the works of Britten, Benjamin, Mathias and Lambert. He has sat on the juries of several international piano competitions.
Martin Jones will perform "In Concert" at 7:00PMCT on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, in W.W. Slider Humanities Center Recital Hall, on the A.P. White Campus of Lindsey Wilson College. Facing the L.R. MacDonald Administration Building at the top of Lindsey Hill on Lindsey Wilson Street, the W.W. Slider Humities Building is to the left, two buildings over. The event is free and open to the public.
