Obituary: Cosby Cundiff, 86, Adair Co., KY

Mr. Cundiff was a a wonderful man, loved by all who knew him. He was a respected farmer of the Joppa Community of Eastern Adair County. He is remembered for his kindness, warmth, impish humor and the irrepressible twinkle in his smile. He was a veteran of World War II and was retired after a career as a school bus driver for the Adair County Board of Education

Cosby Cundiff, 86, of the Montpelier Road area of Adair County, Columbia, KY. passed away Monday, March 16, 2009, at 4:05amCT at the Medical Center at Bowling Green, Bowling Green, KY after an illness.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at 11:00amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Rev. William R. Davenport and Bro. Alvin Young the officiating clergy. Interment in the Regan Cemetery at Glensfork, KY, with Military Honors by VFW Post 6097. Visitation will be after 4:30pmCT. Tuesday, March 16, 2009.



He was born April 13, 1922, the son of the late R. C. and Flora Cundiff of Adair County, KY. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Powell Cundiff on July 27, 1989 and by two daughters and one son, Rebecca Lynn Cundiff, Teresa Ann Cundiff, and William Craig Cundiff; and by a brother, Noel Cundiff.

He is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Carolyn Janes and her husband Rev. Jadell Janes, Columbia, KY

  • One sister: Fannie Dickens and her late husband Paul, Louisville, KY

  • One brother: Cook Cundiff and his wife Sammy of Versailles, KY

  • A sister-in-law: Mildred Cundiff, Bowling Green, KY

  • Two grandsons: Brian Janes and his wife Lois and Neil Janes and his wife Hope

  • One great grandson: Tanner Janes and one great granddaughter, Addison Janes

  • And several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
He was a retired farmer and a school bus driver for the Adair County Board of Education and was a Veteran of World War II.Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements.
