By Sandy Rogers

I am so excited about the United Citizens Bank Relay for Life concert being put on by local talent, especially since some are family. Two of the young men in the opening show, Vengence and Virtutes are my nephews, twins, Jared and Cody Giles. Jared and Cody's parents are Mary Ellen Giles and Jeff Giles. Playing with them is Eli Coomer, Pat and David Coomer's son.

The lead singer in 8th Nation is my cousin, Gabe Feese. Gabe has roots in Columbia. His paternal grandparents Bob Feese and Ruth Jessie Williams, are from Columbia,. Great granparents were the late Estill and Ethel Feese and D.L. and Ruby Jessie.

Gabe has a large follpwing from the Jessie and Feese families. 8th Nation has been playing for over 4 years together and have been the opening show for several big names, including Sammy Kershaw, Bryan White, and Blackstone Cherry.

This concert is today, Saturday March 14, 2009, at the Adair County Middle School Gym at 6:00pmCT. Admission is only $5.00 and all proceeds go to the Relay for Life.<
