Letter: Remembering that great Academic Team of 1985

"Small band of ruffians": Russ Walker, Shane Arnold, Chris (now Christopher) Rowe, the Other Guy, and Coach Jeff Scott

About: "Pictures aren't frozen"

Hey Ed,

Congratulations to this fine group of students. They are continuing a long tradition of excellence in academic competition.

It was 24 years ago that a small band of ruffians won Adair County's first regional academic team championship. The Jeff Scott coached team consisted of Russ Walker, Shane Arnold, Chris (now Christopher) Rowe, and the other guy (me).

It was 23 years ago (after I graduated and thus significantly increased the talent level of the team) that Russ, Shane, and Chis won the highly coveted state championship of KET's Scholastic Challenge.

Keep up the good work, team and thanks to you, Ed, for keeping our schools academic achievments on the front page (as you have for many years).

s/Fred RoweProud member of the Adair Co. High School Academic Team, 1985
Thanks Fred, for remembering this group I'd like to see chiseled into Adair County's first Mount Rushmore. I'll never forget the Pride I felt when the world had to recognize that what Adair County is really about is brains.-ED WAGGENER
