Obituary: Carlos Grant, 74, dies in Adolphus, KY

Mr. Grant was a believer in the Full Gospel Ministry. He was a life time member of the Operating Engineers, and had served in the US Army

Carlos Grant, 74, 1838 Oak Grove Church Road, Adolphus, KY,formerly of Columbia, KY, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at7:50pmCT at his home after an illness.

The funeral service will be Friday, March 13, 2009, at 11:00amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Stanley Watson the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery. Visitation after 4:00pmCT on Thursday, March 12, 2009, at the funeral home.



He was born December 27, 1934, the son of the late Vanis and Bessie Watson Grant of Adair County, KY.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Akin Grant, Adolphus, KY, and the following:
  • One son: Chris "Topper" Grant and his wife Kathy, Adolphus, KY
  • Two grandchildren: Eric Grant and his wife Brittany, andEric's sister-in-law Chelssi Proctor; and Daniel Grant and his wife Sabrina

  • Three great grandchildren: Cole Grant, Austin Grant, and Kaydence Grant

  • One sister-in-law: Enola Grant, Adolphus, KY

  • Four brothers-in-law: Glen Akin and David Akin. both of Columbia, KY; Hugh Akin of Russell Springs, KY, and Larry Akin of Slater, IA

  • Special friends: Al Thorsen and Jeromy Smith

  • And several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death by one son, Curtis Grant on April 30, 1974. andone granddaughter, Amy Yvonne Grant on November 21, 2004.

He was a believer in the Full Gospel Ministry, a lifetime member of the Operating Engineers and had served in the United States Army.
