Lindsey Wilson College softball swept by Georgetown By Chris Wells, LWC Sports Information Director COLUMBIA, KY -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team managed just one run and was swept by Georgetown (Ky.) College in a doubleheader today at Joe Johnson field. Lindsey Wilson (3-7, 0-2 in the Mid-South Conference) lost the first game 10-0 in five innings and the second game 9-1 in six innings. In the opener, Lindsey Wilson mustered only three hits as Georgetown pitcher Samantha Barmore picked up the victory. Barmore needed only 69 pitches over five innings to record the shutout. Georgetown (6-2, 2-0) scored six times in the bottom of the second inning putting things out of reach early for Lindsey Wilson. Lindsey Wilson sophomore Olivia Holland (1-4) suffered the loss allowing 10 runs -- five earned -- over five innings of work. In game two, freshman Megan Huckaby led off the third inning with a single and senior Brittany Dorsey drove her in with a two out double to tie the game at one. However, that was the only run Lindsey Wilson could push across. Georgetown rallied late and scored six runs in the sixth inning pushing the lead to 9-1 and ending the game early due to the eight run mercy rule. Lindsey Wilson sophomore Emillee Bush (2-1) suffered the loss allowing nine runs -- seven earned -- on eight hits over 5-1/3 innings. The Blue Raiders Softball Team returns to action at 2:00pmCT on Friday, March 6, 2009 as Lindsey Wilson hosts Taylor (IN) University at Joe Johnson Field, Columbia, KY This story was posted on 2009-03-05 03:28:24
