Lindsey Wilson Women's Basketball routs WV Tech 68-37 Sophomore Viktoria Krell records 17th double-double By Chris Wells, LWC Sports Information Director MONTGOMERY, W.Va. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team never trailed en route to beating host West Virginia University Tech 68-37 on Thursday at the Baisi Athletic Center. Lindsey Wilson sophomore center Viktoria Krell -- the reigning NAIA and Mid-South Conference Player of the Week -- recorded her league-leading 17th double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds in the win. The No. 20-ranked Blue Raider defense limited the Golden Bears to just 28.3 percent (13-of-46) shooting and forced the host into 23 turnovers. Lindsey Wilson turned the West Virginia Tech miscues into 28 points. While Lindsey Wilson (22-7, 8-3 in the Mid-South Conference) shot just 39.7 percent (25-of-63) from the field, they controlled the backboards, out-rebounding the Bears (2-25, 0-11) 48-23. The Blue Raiders also connected on a season-high 92.3 percent (12-of-13) from the free throw line. Lindsey Wilson senior Ewa Bukowska (11 points) and freshman Michelle Copley (10) joined Krell in double figures. Sophomore Bethany Spillman finished with three points and a game-high 12 rebounds. WVU Tech's Ashley Blaney ended with a game-high 18 points. Lindsey Wilson Women's Basketball returns to action at 2:00CT on Saturday, February 28, 2009, as the Blue Raiders host St. Catharine (KY) College in the regular season finale at Biggers Sports Center.
