National Barn Alliance conference is May 14-16, 2009 Meeting at Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill of interest to growing number of Adair Countians seeking to preserve, document histories of the old barns By Amy Potts Preservation Kentucky and the Kentucky Heritage Council will co-host the 2009 Annual Conference of the National Barn Alliance, May 14-16, 2009 at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill. The National Barn Alliance is a national preservation group providing guidance and leadership for barn preservation and rural heritage and includes members from throughout the country. Included will be a day of educational sessions and tours of local and regional barns. This conference will showcase the work of the Rural Heritage Development Initiative (RHDI), a National Trust for Historic Preservation pilot program directed by Preservation Kentucky and co-sponsored by the Kentucky Heritage Council. The conference will highlight RHDI achievements and what the initiative has been doing throughout central Kentucky to protect and promote barn and farm preservation, and will feature networking opportunities for trades people, farm owners and all others interested in barn and historic farm building preservation.
