Stimulus Bill Updates
President Barack Obama has established a website where Americans can watch how their American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Stimulus Package) money is being spent. The President signed the bill into law in Denver, CO. The website is:RECOVERY.COM The site offers citizens a chance to send personal stories about the Economic Crisis to Your Stories If you should send a story, and you live in or are from Adair, Casey, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell or Taylor Counties in Kentucky, please either send a duplicate copy to ColumbiaMagazine.com or let us know so we can link to your story.

The Great Backyard Bird Count 2009 is still being tallied!

Great Backyard Bird Count
GBBC: The Observation is over, but Checklists for observations The latest scan of the listings for the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) early Tuesday morning, February 17, 2009 showed Columbia #1 in check lists of all communities in Kentucky, but no longer in the Top 10 in the United States.

If you need help submitting your lists, call Barbara Armitage at (270) 250-2979, go to the Adair County Public Library, or contact the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce at (270) 384-6020. If you don't want to use the internet to report, the Adair County Garden Club will take your written lists and enter them for you.

Columbia is 25 checklists below the Top 10, Nationally. Note: If you have not turned in your checklist, please do so. Columbia had no new lists yesterday. Lexington is gaining on us fast! The deadline for turning in checklists is Sunday, March 1, 2009.
