Lindsey Wilson Baseball beats Indiana Tech 8-5

Daniel Eck's walk-off home run lifts Lindsey Wilson Baseball to 8-5 win over Indiana Tech

By Chris Wells, LWC Sports Information Director

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Lindsey Wilson College senior Daniel Eck hit a walk-off three-run home run to help the Blue Raiders beat Indiana Institute of Technology 8-5 on Friday, February 20, 2009, at Campbellsville University.

Eck's first home run of the season capped a come-from-behind win after the Blue Raiders (3-3) trailed 5-0 after the top of the first inning.

Eck finished the day reaching base three times in four at-bats. He also tripled, was hit by a pitch, scored a run and drove in three Lindsey Wilson runs.

Lindsey Wilson junior Max Rhodes added three hits and junior Justin Tucker matched Eck's two hits on the afternoon.

Indiana Tech (1-4) scored five first inning runs thanks to three Lindsey Wilson errors to take the early lead.

Tucker cut into the lead with a RBI double in the bottom half of the first. The Blue Raiders scored three more times in the bottom of the third inning following a wild pitch, a passed ball and a fielding error. Lindsey Wilson trailed 5-4 after three innings.

Lindsey Wilson junior Zach Pritchard's RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth innings tied the game at 5-5 setting up Eck's heroics.

Rhodes -- serving double duty as the starting pitcher and designated hitter -- allowed just one earned run on five hits in five innings of work. He struck out seven Indiana Tech batters.

Junior Luis Parra hurled two perfect innings to pick up his first win of the season. Parra fanned four of the six batters he faced in the final two innings.

Indiana Tech's Mike Sobol suffered the loss.

Lindsey Wilson baseball returns to action at 2:00pmCT on Friday, February 27, 2009 against Spring Arbor (Mich.) University at Campbellsville, KY.
