WENDY BURT, the instructor for Birding 101, a well-attended session designed to improve Bird identification for Adair Countians taking part in the Great Backyard Bird County, February 13-26, 2009, holds a copy of Stan Tekiela's Birds of Kentucky a great take along volume for easy field identification. The seminar was held yesterday, Saturday, February 7, 2009, sponsored by the Adair County Garden Club. Wendy Burt is delighted with the abundance of birds who make their home in her new home (again), in Adair County, KY. Wendy Burt is the daughter of the highly regarded Adair County naturalist and newspaper columnist, June Kemper, who wrote Joy Out My Window for the Columbia Daily Statesman for many years. Mrs. Kemper is now 92, and, her daughter says, "She remembers her years in Adair County as the happiest of her life." The Kempers lived near the Inroad Community off KY 704, and the Burts have retired to the the same area.
