Changing face of Columbia: Gaston Avenue

2009-02-08 - Gaston Ave., Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
The Changes in Columbia include this new look on Gaston Avenue, behind the Old Walmart in Columbia, KY. The logs being harvested are in a field many can still remember as farm land in the 1950s, the site of Mr. Dud Gaston's tobacco patch. The house in the foreground is on the site of the old Gaston place; the one beyond was the Bob Hancock place in the 1950s, where Doug Hancock grew up. The brick house is beside Bradshoe's Shoe Store. The water tower is at Summit Manor on Bomar Heights. The tallest evergreen is a giant holly, one of the biggest and prettiest in Adair County.
