Thinks those addicted will buy cigarettes regardless of price

Thinks higher taxes will mean cigarettes will be bought, even if family suffers from lack of necessitiesResponse to: Smoking taxes. It's hard to watch loved one commit slow suicide

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I don't smoke. I never have and I never will.

Personally, however, I believe that if the tax is raised, then those that are addicted will spend their money on the cigarettes instead of things that they need, which will in turn take away money they could be spending to save their house, their car, feed their children, or achieve a higher education.

I believe whole-heartedly that raising the tax would make things worse, not better. Perhaps not worse for the county, but for the individual and the individual's family. They will be able to come up with the money to buy cigarettes if that is what they want.
