Adair County Leaders are putting together a list of shovel ready projects for consideration when the Fiscal Stimulus Package makes its way through Congress. Adair County CJE Ann Melton, Columbia Mayor Pat Bell, and Vice President Dean Adams of Lindsey Wilson College have coordinated a consolidated booklet of project descriptions for the Fiscal Stimulus Proposals which are are forwarding to state legislative contacts and members of the Kentucky Congressional Delegation. Independent requests are being made by the Adair County School Board and by the Adair County Water District and Adair County Water Plant

If the Mayor Patrick R. Bell and the City of Columbia gets its wishes, the Stimulus Bill program would provide money for three major sewer projects for the CIty of Columbia:

  1. Pineview Drive sanitary sewer extensions
  2. Westwood Estates sanitary sewer extensions
  3. Henson Road sanitary sewer extensions
The total cost for these three items on the wish list is $3,678,000.
The project wish list books says the three sewer projects would great enhance the sewer system of the City of Columbia. The justifications, from the Wish List Book, are as follows:
Pineview Drive Sanitary Sewer. The Pineview Drive area is composed of a subdivision containing approximately 70 homes, an 18-hole Golf Course, and teh Columbia-Adair County Airport. It also is next to Holladay Place, a shopping center which contains a Super Walmart. Although it is a beautiful area, teh land does not percolate well enough to make septic tanks trouble free. The project cost for the sewer extension would be $1,800,000..

Westwood Estates Sanitary Sewer Extension. The Westwood Estates Sewer Projet is to extend sewer service to a portion of the new Columbia Western Bypass (Hwy 55 By-Pass) which would serve apartment dwellings. The project cost of the sewer extension would be $125,000

Henson Road Sanitary Sewer Extension. The Henson road Sewer Project would serve private homes in Columbia Western Bypass (Hwy 55 Bypass) area. The projected cost of the sewer extension would be $1,753,000.00
