Obituary: Shirley Rich, 94

Mrs. Rich was a member of a respected North Adair County family, the widow of Rev. Elby Rich, and a member of the Barnett's Creek United Methodist Church.

Shirley Rich, 94, a resident of Summit Manor Health & Rehab, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2009 at 11:15amCT at Summit Manor, Columbia, KY.

The funeral service Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at 1:00pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY with Bro. Jim Goff and Bro. Scott Ezell the officiating clergy. Interment in Free Union Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home after 3:30pmCT, Monday, February 2, 2009.



She was born February 3, 1913, the daughter of the late William Thomas and Emma Goode Wethington, and the widow of Rev. Elby Rich who preceded her in death on January 19, 2002.

He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Wanda McGaha in 1986, and Zannie Lucas in 2001.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two grandsons: Keith McGaha, Columbia, KYand Gary McGaha, Louisville, KY

  • One granddaughter: & Teresa Ann Floyd of Indianapolis, IN

  • Six great grandchildren

  • One sister: Betty Douglas, Cincinnati, OH

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
She was member of Barnett's Creek United Methodist Church and a homemaker.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
