Obituary: Julia Cole Loy, 64

Mrs. Loy was a retired Adair County teacher and was a member of Columbia Baptist Church

Julia Cole Loy, age 64, of Columbia, KY, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY, after several weeks illness.

The funeral service will be Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 2:00pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, with Dr. Rachel Marshall and Dr. Michael O'Neal the officiating clergy. Interment in Haven Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00pmCT on Friday, January 30, 2009.



She was born February 17, 1944, the daughter of the late Sylvester and Elsie Coomer Cole.

She is survived by her husband, Marshall Loy, of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • One daughter and son-in-law: Cheryl and Barry Corbin, Columbia, KY

  • One son and daughter-in-law: Steven and Heather Loy, Lexington, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Brooke Walker, Kayla Corbin, Lindsay Corbin, Nicole Loy, and Spencer Loy

  • One great grandchild: Kelsi Walker

  • Two sisters: Linda Jackson and her husband Ralph of Columbia, KY, and Joan Lawless of Somerset, KY

  • One brother: Nolan Cole & his wife Judy Columbia, KY
  • And six nephews, four nieces and a host of other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by one niece, Debbie Lawless, and two brothers-in-law, Bobby Loy and Gene Lawless.

Julia was a retired school teacher having taught school in Adair County and was a member of the Columbia Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers expression of sympathy may take the form of donation to Lindsey Wilson College Julia Loy scholarship fund and may be made at the funeral home or mail to the Development Office Lindsey Wilson College, 210 Lindsey Wilson St. Columbia, Ky. 42728
