Obituary: Golda Sparks Loy, 93

Mrs. Loy was a member of a prominent South Adair County family, a member of the Columbia Christian Church, and a homemaker

Golda Sparks Loy, 93, of the Loy Cemetery Road, the Fairplay Community, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 1:20amCT at her home after an illness.

The funeral service Friday, January 30, 2009, at 1:00pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, with Bro. Raymond Martin the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Loy Cemetery in Fairplay, KY. Visitation will be after 3:30pmCT on Thursday, January 29, 2009.



She was born October 22, 1915, the daughter of the late William Fred and Nannie W. Lewis Sparks. She was the widow of Arnon Loy, who preceded her in death on January 20, 1993.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters: Judy Spoon and her husband Amon of Fairplay, KY; andJanice Lunsford her husband Russell of Elizabethtown, KY

  • Three granddaughters: Marsha Clarkson and her husband Billy Joe, Glasgow, KY; Donna Redmon and her husband Kenny of Fairplay, KY, and Sharon Morris and her husband Jeffrey of Elizabethtown, KY

  • Grandchildren: David Lunsford and his wife Leigh of Lexington, KY; Tina Burriss and her husband T.J., Elizabethtown, KY.

  • Great grandchildren: Whitney and Kelsie Redmon of Fairplay, KY; Jesse, Jenna, and Joshua Morris of Elizabethtown, KY

  • A sister-in-law: Lucille Sparks of Columbia, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
  • She was a member of Columbia Christian Church and a homemaker.

    Memorials are suggested to Hosparus of Central Kentucky and may be left at the funeral home.
