Depot District Mural elicits praise for Cookeville, TN

Barbara Armitage says Shortcut Sister City is one of her favorite towns; not only for shopping and eating, but because the city is a leader in Going Green. Besides, it so close to home, and getting closer with new KY 61 through Jeff & Etta Scott Hill Pass

Our daughter Angela lives in Cookeville TN and it's a wonderful (not so little anymore) town. Here's a town which is proud of its past but living in the future.

The downtown area is precious and I live to shop there. Other parts of the city offer a variety of department stores, home improvement stores -everything you might want. There's no need to drive 50 miles from Cookeville to buy the necessities of life.

Don't get me started on restaurants. Cookeville has just about one of everything. Of course you can also have a nice glass of wine with your spaghetti or a beer with that burger too.

My very favorite thing about Cookville is that they are making great steps to Go Green. Stores are encouraging shoppers to use reusable bags even one of my favorite quick lunch restaurants offers me an alternative so that I don't have to use a Styrofoam cup.

Cookevlle is less than 2 hours away - about the same distance as Louisville and the drive down is beautiful if you you drive by Lake Cumberland and Dale Hallow. I recommend that you give it a try.
