2009 Adair Relay holds organizational meeting

Adair County's American Cancer Society (ACS) Relay For Life kickoff was held with a packed house Thursday, January 13, 2009, at the Chamber of Commerce basement.

Fourteen teams for this year's Relay were represented, as well as the 2009 Adair County Relay Committee members; Hunter Williams, ACS Community Representative and Melinda Craft, ACS Area Director and Steven Baker; Adair County Chair of the 2009 Relay for Life Event and Julie Brockman, Co-chair of this year's event. Since this is the 25th anniversary of Relay For Life, this year's Relay theme is the 1980's.




At Thursday night's kickoff the following teams were awarded lapel pins for their fundraising efforts at last year's 2008 Relay event:

Bronze Level:
  • Summit Manor - $2,707.00
  • Bank of Columbia - $2,799.00
  • ACHS Class of '94 - $3,240.91
  • Columbia Christian Church - $3,535.51
  • Purdy Separate Baptist - $3,347.40
  • Glensfork Nazarene - $4,090.75
  • City of Columbia - $4,224.58
  • Columbia Baptist Church - $4,502.00
Silver Level:
  • First and Farmers National Bank - $5,088.00
  • Team SWAT - $6,079.15
Gold Level:
  • United Citizen's Bank - $8,575.83
Platinum Level:
  • A Class Act - $12,217.00
