LW to host talk about Lincoln on January 27, 2009 Berry Craig will present "We Love Him Now: Lincoln the Unloved By Duane Bonifer, LWC Director of Public Affairs COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson College will kick off what's been unofficially dubbed "Lincoln month" five days early when it sponsors a Jan. 27 talk about the nation's 16th president. This February marks the bicentennial of Lincoln's February 12 birth near Hodgenville, KY, and scores of events are planned nationally and throughout Kentucky to celebrate the Kentucky native's life. On Tuesday, January 27, 2009 Lindsey Wilson will host "We Love Him Now: Lincoln the Unloved," a talk by Berry Craig, a professor at Western Kentucky Community and Technical College in Paducah. The talk is a Kentucky Humanities Council event. It will be at 7:00pmCT in the W.W. Slider Humanities Center Recital Hall. It is free and open to the public. Craig is a professor of history at West Kentucky CTC and also a freelance writer. A resident of Mayfield, KY, he earned a master's degrees in history and journalism at Murray State (KY) University, and he has been a member of the West Kentucky CTC faculty since 1989. Craig is a former daily newspaper reporter and Associated Press freelance columnist. He still writes on a variety of topics, from history and health to politics, religion and sports for several local, state and national publications and Web sites. Craig has also written articles and book reviews for the Register of the Kentucky Historical Society and the Filson Club History Quarterly. He also wrote a number of entries for the critically acclaimed Kentucky Encyclopedia. In 1992, Craig was the second recipient of the annual Phelps Award for Excellence in Teaching at West Kentucky CTC. In 2002, he received the Kentucky Historical Society's Richard H. Collins Award "in recognition as the author of the best article appearing in The Register of the Kentucky Historical Society for the year 2001." Berry Craig will talk about "We Love Him Now: Lincoln the Unloved" at 7:000mCT on Tuesday, Jan. 27, in the Lindsey Wilson College W.W. Slider Humanities Center Recital Hall.
