By Chris Wells, LWC Sports Information Director

COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson College junior guard Jeff Vories hit all four of his three pointers and scored a team-high 18 points to help the Blue Raiders to a 71-67 win over visiting Pikeville (KY) College on Saturday at Biggers Sports Center.

All four of the Fort Thomas, KY, natives three-pointers stopped a Pikeville (12-6 overall and 1-1 in the Mid-South Conference) run to help the No. 18-ranked Blue Raiders (14-2, 1-0) win their MSC opener.

Vories finished just one shy of his career-high, making six of his seven shots. He also contributed two assists and three steals in the win.

The Blue Raiders battled back from an early 7-2 deficit to take a 15-14 lead with 11 minutes left in the opening half. Lindsey Wilson would not trail the rest of the way.

Lindsey Wilson extended its lead to 13 points (37-24) with 4:09 left before the Bears closed the half with a 13-2 run to go into the break down 39-37.

The Blue Raiders extended their halftime lead to as many as nine points but were unable to shake the Bears.

Pikeville closed within 70-67 with 33 seconds left, but a free throw by junior guard Eric McPherson with 5.4 seconds sealed the 71-67 win.

McPherson finished with 15 points and junior forward Andrija Tintor added 10.

Pikeville junior guard Josh Samarco led four Bears in double figures with a game-high 20 points. Senior J.B. Smiley (14), sophomore Justin Hicks (13) and senior Ewan Linton (11) joined Samarco in double figures.
