Two killed in head-on crash on KY 555 in Springfield, KY

One driver's attempt to pass in no-pass lane said cause of tragedy

The Kentucky State Police Post 15 is currently investigating a two vehicle, multi-fatality accident that occurred on KY555 in the city limits of Springfield in Washington County, KY.

At 10:04pmET, Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY, received a call of a head on collision in the southbound lanes of KY555.



A 1995 Ford pick-up truck, operated by Robert Wayne Miles of Springfield, was traveling north on KY555 when the driver attempted to pass another vehicle in a no passing zone and struck a 2007 Chevrolet van operated by Willie J. Adams Jr. of Washington, PA, which was traveling southbound on KY 555.

After impact, the Adams vehicle left the roadway and came to final rest on an earth embankment. The Miles vehicle came to final rest on KY555 facing east.Both Miles and Adams were transported via ambulance to Springview Hospital in Lebanon were they were pronounced dead by Marion County Coroner J.R. Moraja Sr.

Miles was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. However, Adams was not.

The accident is currently being investigated by Trooper 1st Class Dewayne Holder. Assisting at the scene were Sgt. Jamie Heller, Trooper Donnie Moses, Trooper Nathan Rhodes, Springfield Police Department, Washington County Sheriff's Office, Washington County EMS, and Washington County Fire/Rescue.
