Two cases of Pertussis (whooping cough) in Adair School District Letters have gone to all parents in the district; precautions are being taken to help prevent the spread of Whooping Cough (Pertussis); District is working closely with medical community, Adair County Health Department Article updated on January 10, 2009 to include links to AC School District Website By Brenda Mann, Asst. Supt. of Student Services Adair County School District, Columbia, KY One school within the Adair County School District has two confirmed cases of Pertussis (Whopping Cough). Once District staff was made aware of the confirmed cases today, district schools sent home letters making parents aware and providing a Pertussis fact sheet. School staff members have also attempted phone contact to parents of students in close contact with the diagnosed students, along with a detailed letter addressing medical recommendations. Precautions are being taken within the schools to help prevent the spread of Pertussis. Staff members are on alert to report students with identifiable symptoms and are emphasizing proper hand washing and the sanitizing of high contact surfaces. The District is working closely with, and following recommendations of the local health department.
