Obituary: Donnie Joe Young, 53

Mr. Young was a member of a large, respected Columbia family. He was a construction worker and of the Baptist faith

Donnie Joe Young, 53, Columbia, KY, died Sunday, January 4, 2009, at 2:53amCT at Westlake Regional Hospital Emergency Room.

The funeral service is Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at 1:00pmCT at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Ivan Vititoe officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be afater 3:00pmCT, Monday, January 5, 2009, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY.

He was a son of the late Eugene Young and Elizabeth Spear Young. He was a construction worker and of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Vititoe Young, Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • Four sons: D.J., Lucas, and Bradley Young, all of Columbia, KY; and Tony Allen of Lexington, KY

  • One daughter: Amy Steenbergen, Glasgow, KY

  • His step-mother: Eloise Jeffries, Columbia, KY

  • Five brothers: Freddie Anderson, Glasgow, KY; Larry Joe Anderson, Owensboro, KY; and David Young, Danny Jeffries, and Richard Young, all of Columbia, KY

  • Three sisters: Patsy Scott, Burkesville, KY; and Barbara Ann Melton and Lois Jean Jeffries, both of Columbia, KY

  • And four grandchildren
