On Pinewood CC: Writer has concerns about Pinewood plan Response to: "A Pinewood member writes in defense of PCC" To ColumbiaMagazine.com: One concern of mine about the country club has always been not letting locals play! Up until they realized they where in financial trouble, Adair County Citizens could not just pay a green fee and play, they had to be a member and pay the membership fee! And thats fine, but for us citizens that just want to play a handful of times every summer, it was just not worth a membership fee to do that! And I for one love where the new Wal-Mart is located, they couldn't have picked a better spot in my opinion. But since a few (profited from developing that property), it kind of makes you wonder why aren't they the ones buying this establishment, especially considering the recession we are in and so many people losing their jobs every day! This fundraiser could not have come at a worse time in my opinion. signed by yet another "Another Concerned Citizen" (not the same one as used the penname before) Contact information and name on file Thanks for sharing your thoughts. However, ColumbiaMagazine.com supports the private fund drive to save Pinewood Country Club by making it a part of Lindsey Wilson College. The success of the plan will make Columbia and Adair County a much better place to live. We expect there will be some real angels among the contributors--some people everyone should appreciate. Every individual and organization has had a chance to come up with a plan to save the country club; now a coalition of capable citizens are doing just that, and we applaud them. -EW This story was posted on 2009-01-04 02:59:08
