Obituary: Zora Genois (Jean) Collins, 71

She was a member of a respected Adair County family, a member of the Columbia church of Christ, and a homemaker.

Zora Genois "Jean" Collins age 71 years of 151 Colony Dr., Columbia, Ky. passed away Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008 at her home.

The funeral service is Sunday, December 28, 2008 at 2:00pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, with Dean Roach the officiating clergy. Interment in Antioch Cemetery. Visitation after 4:00pmCT, Saturday, December 27, 2008, at the funeral home.



She was born October 5, 1937, the daughter of the late Willie Robert and Alta L. Price Akin of Adair County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Woodruff Collins, onFebruary 10, 2006.

She is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Mary Angela Tackett and her husband Stephen,Louisville, KY

  • Two sons: Philip L. Collins and his wife Barbara, Newark, Delaware; and Mark Dwayne Collins and his wife Amy Jean, Sunnyside, UT

  • Five sisters: Audrey Calhoun, Flossie Price, Charlene Sexton, Margie Williams, Columbia, KY; and Sheila McQueary, Louisville, KY

  • Three brothers: Finley Akin, Edmonton, KY, Dean Akin, Versailles, KY and Dickie Akin of Chicago,IL

  • Four grandchildren: Abraham Collins Tackett, Stephenie MarieTackett, Timothy Preston Collins, and Isaiah Raymond Collins

  • Two step grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren

  • And several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Rev. Bobby Akin.

She was a member of Columbia church of Christ and a homemaker.
