Obituary: Former Adair County Sheriff W.O. (Candy) Mann, 95

Mr. Mann was a member of the Roley Christian Church. He was sheriff and deputy sheriff in Adair County, KY, for total of 12 years, and was a heavy equipment operator

W. O. "Candy" Mann age 95 years of 412 Valley View DR., Irvington, KY, formerly of Columbia, Ky. passed away Wednesday morning, December 24, 2008, at his home.

The funeral service is Friday, December 26, 2008 at 11:00amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Lewis Haynes the officiating clergy. Visitation after 9:00amCT Friday, December 26, 2008, at the funeral home.

He was born December 15, 1913, the son of the late Ebb and Hattie Walker Mann.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Ferguson Mann, on September 23, 2005 and one daughter, Nanette Bridges.

He is survived by the following:
  • Wendell Mann, Irvington, KY; and David Mann, Elizabethtown, KY

  • One daughter: Sharon Smith, Irvington, KY

  • Two sisters: Nadine Carney of Cincinnati, OH; and Audrey Foutch of Marcel, IL

  • And two grandchildren, two Great Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends
He was a member of the Roley Christian Church, a former Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff of Adair County for 12 years, a heavy equipment operator, and a member of Columbia Masonic Lodge #92.
