Passengers injured in passing attempt on KY 70 Westbound vehicle passes one vehicle, attempts to pass second but collides with third vehicle making left turn onto Crockett Trail on KY 70 west of Liberty, KY A two vehicle injury collision occurred at 5:06pmET on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, five miles west of Liberty on KY 70 in Casey County, KY. A 1991 Ford, operated by Jonathan Cundiff, 26, of Liberty, was westbound on KY 70 and overtook another vehicle traveling westbound. The Cundiff vehicle then attempted to overtake a 1982 Chevy being operated by Michael Giles, age 50, of Dunnville, KY, while Giles was making a left hand turn onto Crockett Trail. The Cundiff vehicle struck the Giles vehicle in the side. Neither Cundiff, who was belted at the time, nor Giles, who was not belted at the time of the collision, were injured.. The Cundiff vehicle contained two passengers, 19 year old Kristina Cain, Liberty, who was not belted, and 18 year old Michael Harmon, also of Liberty, who was belted. Cain and Harmon were transported to the Casey County Hospital in Liberty, KY where they were treated and released.. The accident was investigated by Trooper Brian Shepard of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY.
