Obituary: Preston Thomas Thompson, 69, Metcalfe Co., KY

Mr. Thompson was a member of Seven Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was retired from GE Appliance Park in Louisville, KY.

Preston Thomas Thompson, 69, Sulphur Well, KY, died Sunday, December 14, 2008, at his home.

The funeral service will be at 11:00amCT, Saturday, December 20, 2008, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Little Barren Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00pm until 8:00pmCT, Friday, December 19, 2008, and after 9:00amCT, Saturday, December 20, 2008, at the funeral home.



He was born in Green County, KY, the son of the late Verlon and Magdalene Edwards Thompson.

He was a member of the Seven Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was retired from GE Appliance Park in Louisville, KY.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Froggett Thompson of Sulphur Well, KY, and the following:
  • Two daughters: Susie and husband Kendall Clark of Sulphur Well, KY; and Betty and her husband Ralph Bernard, Columbia, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Gretchen and husband Larry Bandy, Evan Clark, and Kendra Clark, all of Sulphur Well, KY

  • One brother: Clifton and his wife Linda Thompson, Edmonton, KY

  • A nephew: Tommy Thompson of Center, KY

  • A niece: Jackie Goodson, Edmonton, KY

  • And two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Tyla and Tammy Thompson, and by one grandson, Joseph Bernard.

Butler Funeral Home, Edmonton, KY, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
