Obituary: Joy Scott, 82

Mrs. Scott was formerly of Sparksville community. She was a homemaker and a member of a respected South Adair County family

Joy Scott, 82, a resident of Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown, KY, formerly of the Sparksville Community in Adair County passed away Monday, December 15, 2008, at 1:00pmCT, at Fair Oaks Nursing Home after an illness.

The funeral service is Thursday, December 18, 2008, at 1:30pm at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Rick Mann the officiating clergy. The family request visiting after 10:00amCT, Thursday, December 18 at the funeral home


She was born October 14, 1926, the daughter of the late Roy and Ora Branham Dunbar of Russell County, KY.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Kay Dunbar, a sister, Gae Dean, and by four grandchildren.

She is survived by the following:
  • Four sons: Barry Scott, Lexington, KY; Mitchell Scott, Glasgow, KY; Daryl Scott, Bowling Green, KY; and Rodney Scott of Russell Springs, KY

  • Four daughters: Janice Scott, Noblesville, IN; Judy Evans, Nancy, KY; Charlotte Marr, Bowling Green, KY; Tamara Schweitzer of Knob Lick, KY

  • One brother: Roy Dunbar, Memphis, TN

  • Seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren
Mrs. Scott was a homemaker.

Interment in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery in Russell Springs, KY.
