Letter: Writer thinks veterans tributes should be free Veterans park for Columbia, Adair County To ColumbiaMagazine.com: If charges are made (for blocks honoring individual veterans.-CM) many would be left off the list. Then it would not be a true memorial just a recognition for the ones that can afford to have their names put on the list. Many of our young men and old that have died in service for our county. I have no family members or no one that could pay to have their names engraved. The whole ideal in my opinion was to to have a memorial park for our veterans seems quite quaint to offer a memorial, then charge fees for the honor to be recognize. Freedom: the veterans have paid the price for all of us. It's called "Freedom." I salute all the veterans. I honor them. s/Alice Wheeler This story was posted on 2008-12-12 16:37:22
