Obituary: Raymond Coffey, 80

Mr. Coffey was a member of a large, respected Western Adair County family. He was treasurer of Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church for 33 years, a farmer, and livestock dealer.

Raymond Coffey, 80, Columbia, KY (the Bliss Community) died Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at 9:21pm at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY.

He was a son of the late Cassius and Ina Coomer Coffey and was also preceded in death by five brothers, Ural, Garon, Earl, William Edgar, and Elroy Coffey, and two sisters, Margie Corbin and Avis Coffey.



He was a member of Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church for 56 years where he served as Treasurer for 33 years. He was a farmer and livestock dealer.He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margie Burris Coffey, Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • One brother: Clavis Coffey, Coumbia, KY

  • Two sisters: Pearl Bennett and Charity Edwards, both of Columbia, KY

  • And several nieces, nephews, and friends
The funeral service will be Friday, December 5, 2008, at 1:00pm at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Steve Coffey and Bro. Carl Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Riddge Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3:00pmCT, Thursday, December 4, 2008, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home.
