Obituary: Jimmy Howard, 62

Mr. Howard was representative of the Texas Book Company and a member of a highly regarded Adair County family

Jimmy Howard, 62, Columbia, SC, died suddenly Saturday afternoon at the St. Joseph East Hospital Emergency Room in Lexington, KY.

The funeral service will be Monday, December 1, 2008, at 1:00pmCT at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Visitation will be after 11amCT, Monday, December 1, 2008.



He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Clayton Howard, and by a daughter, Alison Nicole Pope.Survivors include the following:
  • His father: Remus Howard, Columbia, KY

  • His wife: Judy Harris Howard, Columbia, SC

  • Two daughters: Stephanie and her husband Greg Watson, Lexington, KY; and Elizabeth Howard of Murfreesboro, TN

  • One son: Richard Pope of Lexington, KY

  • Five grandsons: Stewart James Watson, Jacob Marshall Watson, Tyler Harris Pope, Brandon Alexander Pope, and Matthew Nicholas Pope
Mr. Howard had been a sales representative for the Texas Book Company.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Cancer Research Center at the University of South Carolina, 14 Richland Memorial Park, Suite 500, Columbia, SC. These may be made at the funeral home.Grissom-Martin Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
