Obituary: Bert Harper, Jr., 86

Mr. Harper was a member of a highly regarded Columbia family and was a faithful member of the Columbia Baptist Church

Bert Harper, Jr., 86, a resident of Summit Manor Health & Rehab in Columbia, KY, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at 12:20pmCT at Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, KY.

The funeral service will be Saturday, November 29, 2008, at 10:00amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY. The family requests visitation after 5:00pmCT, Friday, November 28, 2008 at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Columbia Cemetery.



He was born August 7, 1916, the son of the late Bert and Montra V. Yarberry Harper of Columbia, KY.He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred Harper and J.D. Harper, and by two sisters, Anna Lewis Fudge and Thelma Caughron.

He is survived by the following:
  • Several nieces: Margaret Harper and Joanna Conover, both of Louisville, KY; Mary Welch Pickett, Billie Jo Edwards, Thelma Harper

  • Several nephews: Robert Harper Caughron, Glendale, CA; and Jimmy Harper, Columbia, KY

  • And several great nieces, nephews, and a host of friends
Bert, Jr. was a faithful member of the Columbia Baptist Church.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the Columbia Baptist Church and may be made at the funeral home. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
