Salvation Army 'True Colors' Kettle Drive starts this month

By Ellen Zornes and Kelli Bonifer

Do you Bleed Blue...or are you Red, through and through? Well, we'll see. Kelli Bonifer and Ellen Zornes, Christmas Kettle Co-chairs for the Adair County Unit of the Salvation Army, challenge you to join the volunteers above and 'put your money where your mouth is' and show your 'true colors' this Holiday Season while helping to continue the important work of our local unit.

The Blue Team Roster: Ann Melton, County Judge Executive; Julie George, Head Teller, Community Trust Bank; Carla Denton, Sales; Key Broadcasting, Inc.; Dave Johnston, formerly with United Citizens Bank of Southern KY; Pat Bell, Mayor, City of Columbia; J. D. Zornes, Durham and Zornes, Attorneys;

The Red Team Roster: Donna Graves, Language Arts Teacher, Adair County Middle School; Jennifer Hutchison-Corbin, County Attorney; Ann Martin, President/CEO, First and Farmers National Bank; Mike Harris, Harris and Harris, PSC, Attorneys, Co-owner Shoreline Communications, Inc.; Doyle Lloyd, Loan Officer, Bank of Columbia; Charles Marshall, retired businessman, Life Long UL Cardinal Fan.

And, remember, Lindsey Wilson College is blue and Western Kentucky University, Eastern Kentucky University and Campbellsville University are red.Our major fundraising activity is our Christmas Kettle where community people have always been so gracious to participate by ringing the bell and by dropping your donation in the kettle. We need you once again!

You can be the difference in the life of a child by helping provide a week of summer camp, a warm coat for winter, school supplies, ensuring all children have a merry Christmas, a senior adult to have the necessities, or be the difference for your neighbor when help is needed most as after a house fire, or tornado. Yes, you can make that difference by simply dropping your donation in the familiar red or blue kettle

Or, mail your donation to: The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1085, Columbia, KY 42728; just be sure to designate whether it's 'red or blue.' Or, if you're not caught up in the 'color hype,' just drop your donation in either kettle or mail it without a designation.
>
The Christmas Kettles, red and blue, will be located outside IGA and Wal-Mart on Wednesday, November 26 and outside Wal-Mart each Friday and Saturday beginning Friday, December 5 - Saturday, December 20. All donations stay in Adair County to be used in our community.

The Salvation Army is a nationally recognized all volunteer Christian, nondenominational, charitable organization. Locally our focus is meeting the needs of our community through various programs such as House Fire Assistance, Natural Disaster Relief, Back to School Assistance, Summer Camp, Christmas Angels, Senior Angels and Christmas Kettle Bell Ringing. The Adair County Unit meets the first Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. in the basement of the Courthouse Annex. If you are interested in becoming a vital part of our local unit, please join us at our next meeting or any monthly meeting.

We would also like to say a very heartfelt "Thank You" to our community for your continued support of our ongoing programs. Without you, we couldn't make a difference!

So, join us in helping others and be part of the fun, "Go Big Blue, Go Big Red!"
