LWC Women's Soccer advances to NAIA's 2nd round Sophomore Kimmia Parker hero of opening game at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, scoring only goal of opening round match--her team-leading 24th of season By Chris Wells, LWC Director of Sports Information COLUMBIA, KY -- Top-seeded Lindsey Wilson (KY) College survived Siena Heights (MI) University's upset bid with a 1-0 win today in the opening round of the 25th NAIA Women's Soccer National Tournament at Walter S. Reuling Stadium on Lindsey Wilson's campus. The Blue Raiders (19-1) advance to the national championship site at Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium in Daytona Beach, FL, for the remainder of the 16-team tournament. The opening round is being contested on 15 different campuses throughout the nation. Host Embry-Riddle (FL) University earned a bye into the second round as the tournaments host. Lindsey Wilson sophomore forward Kimmia Parker scored the games only goal in the 40th minute to help the Blue Raiders advance. Parker scored on a cross from junior defender Yolanda Hamilton and beat Siena Heights sophomore goalkeeper Haley Mancini for her team-leading 24th goal of the season. Mancini kept the game close with seven saves as the Blue Raiders out-shot the visiting Saints (11-6-4) 15-3 for the match. Lindsey Wilson College Women's Soccer team advances to the national tournaments second round to face McKendree (IL) University, who defeated Kansas Wesleyan University 1-0 today.
