The Ordell Fudges celebrate 60th anniversary

With two photos; click on headline for complete story and photos

By Billy Joe Fudge

On November 12th, 1948 the most significant event to allow me to be here took place. Zelma Merle Stotts and James Ordell Fudge stood along side each other and promised to Love, Honor, and Obey and were united in Marriage.

On Wednesday November 12th, 2008 my Mom and Dad began their 60th year of marriage. Libby and I celebrated this milestone of time and commitment with them on Thursday the 13th.

Dad takes dialysis three times a week now and is oftentimes weak after this procedure, so we postponed our time together until an off day for Dad. Of course it was an off day for Mom, also. She, as always, is by Dad's side during dialysis as they have stood by the other for the past 60 years. They have truly Loved, Honored, and Obeyed that commitment made back in 1948.

I know most of you who know my parents might remember Mom from the Circle R and Lyon Uniform in the 50's, Osh Kosh in the 60's, and Summit Manor in the 70's, 80's, and 90's.

You might remember Dad as a dairy and tobacco farmer, working in the log woods for Mr. Frank Lancaster (pronounced Lankster), procuring tobacco for tobacco markets, or most probably for being alongside "Smokey" for 14 years. Smokey, according to most of us who knew him and had the pleasure of walking beside him from 1956 till 1970, was the best bird dog who ever lived.

Now Mom, Dad, all of us in the family, and all of you their friends and neighbors are looking forward to November 12th, 2009 and may God continue to bless us all.

One of these signs could save your life or the life of someone you love

(ADV) FFA Address Marker orders may be placed at Four Adair Co., KY businesses
We are announcing a new option to make it more convenient for people to place orders and pick up signs puchased from the Adair County FFA. Two local businesses have agreed to provide a location for people to place an order and pick up their sign when it is finished. You can now place an order at:

  • Day and Day Feed and Pet, 1011 Campbellsville RD, Columbia, KY

  • M & W Milling, 510 Short ST., Columbia, KY

  • Hardscratch Grocery, 7289 Hwy 55 South Road, Columbia, KY. In the Glensfork Community of Adair County. Phone (270) 384-4671

  • Burton Ace Hardware, 314 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY. Phone (270) 384-2696
We will pick up the orders every few days and call the person when the sign is ready to be picked up. Signs are still $15 and are a hot item for Chistmas since they fit perfectly into a large stocking. They are about the best gift I can think of for the person that already has everything and is hard to shop for. If a person wants a sign by Christmas, they will have to get their order in by December 15, 2010. which is the last day of school before break. Orders placed after this date will not likely be filled until after the New Year. -Kirby Hancock, Advisor, Adair County FFA
