In Men's Collegiate A, Omer and Estevez surprise the pro's In the Mens Collegiate A race the field was mixed in with the Pro Mens race. The pros were surprised when the powerhouse duo of Clayton Omer and Danny Estevez immediately formed a breakaway with the pro mens series leader from Chicago. TThe 3 dropped the field and powered away for the entire 60 minute race. Mid way through it was Clayton Omer launching an attack that was countered and brought back by the strong Chicago pro. But the effort took its toll on the windy city rider as Clayton soon rode the chasers off his wheel and maintained a 14 second gap over the final 3 laps to take the win. Danny Estevez held on for 5th overall and 2nd in the collegiate competition. Lindsey took spots 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, and 8 in Men's A Lindsey took spots 1,2,5,6,7 an 8th in Mens A, finishing Omer, Estevez, Kip Spaude, Matt Dooley, Peter Smith and Jake Zimmerman respectively.Lindsey dominates Freshman competition, too In the Mens B field, the dominance was still there as Freshman rider Lewis Almonte, in only his 2nd cross race dropped the collegiate field and soloed away for a commanding victory. Freshman Ryan Storm also made it look easy taking 2nd in the Mens Bs. The real nail-bitter was Freshman Nicholas Grigsby who found himself fighting off attacks from no less than 3 Missouri riders who working in his draft. After a bike change, Grigsby chased down the final collegiate B rider in front of him from Chicago University the Missouri riders began to waiver and at the finish line it was Grigsby with a winning margin of less than 5 seconds to take 3rd.
