LWC Women's Soccer finishes final NAIA poll No. 1 in U.S.A.

The Lindsey Wilson College womens soccer team is No. 1 in the final NAIA Womens Soccer Coaches Top-25 Poll, released today, Sunday, November 16, 2008, by the NAIA.

Lindsey Wilson received 550 points, including 13 of the 20 first-place votes, to remain atop the poll for the seventh consecutive week. The Blue Raiders have held the top spot since the October 7 poll.



The Blue Raiders are 18-1-0 after winning the Mid-South Conference Tournament on Thursday and the conferences automatic bid into the national tournament.

Lindsey Wilson will learn its first round opponent later today as the NAIA Womens Soccer National Tournament bracket will be released.

Lee (TN) University is No. 2 after receiving 542 points, including four first-place votes, and Martin (TN) Methodist College is No. 3 with 520 points. Concordia (OR) University is No. 4 with 518 points, including the final three first-place votes, and Azusa Pacific (CA) University rounds out the top-five with 491 points.

The conference tournament championship extended the Blue Raiders winning streak to 13 games. Lindsey Wilsons only setback this season was a 1-0 loss at Martin Methodist on September 19, 2008.
