Obituary: Charles Cantrill Rogers, 85

Mr. Rogers was a veteran of World War II, a member of a large, respected Columbia family, and was a Kentucky State Police retiree and a former restaurant owner. He attended Columbia church of Christ.

Charles Cantrill Rogers, 85, died Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at 4:47pmCT, at Westlake Regional Hospital Emergency Room.

Visitation will be after 3:00pmCT, Friday, November 14, 2008, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY. The funeral service will be Saturday, November 15, 2008, at 1:00pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Dean Roach officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, Liberty Road, Columbia, KY.



He was a son of the late Fred and Lonie Pickett Rogers, a US Army Veteran of World War II, and a Kentucky State Police retiree. For a brief time he operated a popular restaurant near Adair Memorial Hospital. He attended Columbia church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine Rogers, in 2001.

Survivors include the following:
  • Two sons and daughters-in-law: Chuck and Becky Rogers and Rick and Suzanne Rogers, all of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter and son-in-law: Karla and Lenny Stone, Columbia, KY

  • Two sisters: Cecilia Shaw of Louisville, KY; and Carol Pitts, Georgia
  • Eight grandchildren: Jill Grant, Tara McQueary, Leah Rogers, Jeremy Rogerys, Julie Bell; and Corey, Katie, and Wes Stone

  • Nine great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

  • Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
