Obituary: Carrie M. Turner, 80

Mrs. Turner was a member of the United Brethren in Christ Church and the head of a large, respected family. She leaves 63 direct living descendants

Carrie M. Turner, 80, 2705 Russell Springs Road, Columbia, KY, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY, after an illness.

The funeral service will be Thursday, November 13, 2008, at 1:00pmET at Cedar Chapel in Leslie County, KY with Rev. Titus Boggs officiating. Visitation will be after 4:30pmCT, Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, and after 10:00amET Thursday, November 13 at Cedar Chapel Church in Leslie County, KY. Interment will be in Abners Branch Cemetery in Big Laurel, KY



She was born December 30, 2008, the daughter of the late Charlie and Nannie Miniard.She is survived by the following:
  • Four sons: Roy L. Turner, San Jose, CA; Rufus L. "Bill" Turner, Columbia, KY; Troy W. Turner, Chance, KY; and Charlie Eugene Turner, Columbia, KY

  • Four daughters: Diane Joseph and Lana Turner, Columbia, KY; Christine Harris, Mt. Vernon, KY; and Rachel E. Keith, Fairplay, KY.

  • One brother: Charlie Eugene Miniard, Evarts, KY

  • One sister: Waldie Goodman, Dehoit, KY

  • And 23 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, several nieces, nephews, and a host of othe relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by two sons, Coy and Neal Turner, and one sister, Christine Boggs.

She was a member of the United Brethren in Christ Church and a homemaker.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
