(ADV) Thanks to voters from Billy Joe Fudge

To the voters of the 51st KY House District:

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all those who supported me in this brief District 51 Representative campaign. It was a short campaign and I knew I would be facing an uphill battle when I took on the challenge. I am completely at peace with my efforts, my message, and the results of this abbreviated campaign.

I understand the dynamics of the presidential race and the impact it had on the District 51 race. I understand the divisions that party affiliation creates among us. I understand it but to experience it from the inside out is truly enlightening.

We were blessed to have a constructive part in restoring the South 61 construction project which most, including my opponent, had written off. We led the effort to free up federal funds earmarked for the study of the Heartland Parkway from Columbia to Campbellsville. Most of all Libby and I had a chance to visit with many of our friends and neighbors during this brief campaign.

We had a chance to renew many old relationships and at the same begin new ones. Additionally, we gave you our supporters the opportunity to have your say in this District 51 race.

A healthy forest is made up of many different types of trees. It is alive from it's canopy to the forest floor with the life that diversity brings. A forest in danger of extinction is one that is made up only one type of tree. There is no life in the canopy and the forest floor is become a desert in it's lack of diversity.

In the same way a healthy democracy is one of diversity. It is alive and strong because it is composed of the old and the young, the black and the white, the weak and the strong. And a democracy in danger of extinction lacks diversity. This lack of diversity creates a desert that discourages the creative competition of ideas and public dialog.

Our two-party system is so important to us. It is the competition of diversity that makes us strong and when we demonize the competitor that makes us strong we demonize ourselves. When there is only one team on the field that team is weakened.

Once again, Libby and I thank you for your vote, support and prayers. There is much work to be done for Adair County and Taylor County in the legislature.

We should pray that John "Bam" Carney represents us well.

s/Billy Joe Fudge

Pd. Pol. Adv. Paid for by candidate, Libby Reynolds Fudge, treasurer.
