HallowRead: A 'Bewitching' evening for students, parents

By Ellen Zornes
Last evening proved to be 'bewitching' indeed as over 400 creatures of the night as well as rock singers and princesses were spotted at the fifth annual HallowRead held at Adair County Elementary School! From the reading and activity rooms, to the strolling 'haunted' characters, to the pizza and soft drinks, to the face painters, to the weird scientists, to substance abuse awareness displays, to the 'witchy' intercom emcee--we had a 'howling' good time!

We would like to extend a special thank you to the teachers of all our schools who helped to make the night special and, of course, to Ms. Susan Peck and her ACHS Chemistry students who are our very own weird scientists for showing us how much fun chemistry truly is.

And, to our parents and grandparents for taking the time and effort to allow your child to be part of HallowRead!

The Adair County Public Library and Library Board of Directors along with A.C.T.I.O.N. Generation would like to thank the sponsors for making the evening possible and for always believing in our kids: Wayne Ray and Hometown IGA; Pizza Hut; Adair County Elementary School; 4-H; Family Resource Centers; Lindsey Wilson College Upward Bound Program; The Adair Progress; ColumbiaMagazine.com; Community Voice; WAIN Radio; WHVE Radio; Adair County Schools Title I and Title IV Programs and L.E.A.D. Adair County. We could not do these extra and fun events without your helpyou are greatly appreciated.

So, Until next year, my prettieskeep reading and have a safe Halloween!
