Big Rig Big League Sportswriter: On the Chicago hotdog

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Anyone who has ever been to Chicago knows you have to have a kosher dill for it to be a Chicago hotdog! May be willing to give it a try if they can accomodate me with the kosher too. I will let you know. I also hope it is an all beef hot dog. Portillo's has some of the best Chicago hotdogs in the Windy City! Chicagoans take our food seriously. We do not like imposters!

Big Al Owens

Editor's note: Whether it's got celery salt, a pickle spear, neon green relish, sport peppers, or whether the tube is beef, buffalo, or hog meat, we don't think you'll find anything in Chicago, New York City, or even Clifton, NJ which is the equal of the hotdogs sold here. We eat them here because they're good, not because they're orthodox. If you want to pour a whole bottle of ketchup on it, it's your business, in this blessed land of open hot dog communion. -EW
