Tips: Making the right decisions when purchasing fertilizer

Soil fertility meeting with free meal for farmers is Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at Roberta C. Cranmer Dining Center, Lindsey Wilson College

Extension Agent for Agriculture and Natural ResourcesIn response to the dramatic rise in fertilizer prices, the Adair County Cooperative Extension Service, the Adair County Cattleman's Association, and the Adair County Ag Development Council have teamed up to present a Soil Fertility Meeting on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at the Lindsey Wilson College Dining Center. A free meal will be served beginning at 6:30pm.



Immediately following the meal, UK Extension Soils Specialist Greg Schwab will present information on "Making the Right Decisions When Purchasing Fertilizer".

Topics to be addressed were chosen by a committee of farmers representing all commodities. Topics will include: importance of fertilizer, soil testing, animal waste and sewer sludge for fertilizer, foliar fertilizers, fertilizer additives, use of legumes, and nitrogen use and response. All farmers are invited to attend. You will need to RSVP by calling the Adair County Cooperative Extension Service at (270) 384-2317.
