The No. 1-ranked Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer team used two first half goals to defeat Embry-Riddle (FL) 2-0 Saturday night, October 25, 2008, at Lindsey Wilson Park in Columbia, KY.

Lindsey Wilson struck first as sophomore forward Frederick Were received a pass from senior midfielder Nathaniel Jafta and nailed it into the right corner of the net during the 16th minute. Were is second on the team with seven goals.

In the 42nd minute freshman defender Rasmus Jacobsen headed a terrific cross from Were into the back of the net. The goal was Jacobsens third on the season.

The Blue Raiders used the 2-0 cushion to control the pace of the game and allow only one shot on goal in the second half en route to the shutout victory.

Freshman goalkeeper Michael Smith recorded three saves and continues to be a wall in net. Smith has yet to allow a goal this year and has a current shutout streak of 615 minutes. During the streak he is 5-0-1 with 17 saves.

Lindsey Wilson Men's Soccer returns to action at 7:00pmCT on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, as the Blue Raiders host Georgetown (KY) College at Lindsey Wilson Park.
