Columbian to be a closing bell, NYSE, December 5, 2008 Columbia native Doug Beard, Strategic Events Manager for Brown-Forman Corporation, Louisville, KY, will be at the New York Stock Exchange to take part in the closing bell ceremony on December 5, 2008, the 75th anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition. Prohibition ended on December 5, 1933, when Utah ratified the 21st Amendment to the United States Constitution and alcoholic beverages in the United States. Beard is the son of Harry and Bea Beard.
