Garden Club sets new Personal Best at PRIDE Clean Up By Barbara Armitage The Adair County Garden Club hit the streets this morning with 24 members and friends to help clean up Adair County and the City of Columbia as part of the annual Fall Pride Clean up campaign. This was by far our largest turn out. We had hoped to beat our Spring Clean up distance record and we shattered it! Gardener's tend to be a healthy lot, easily cleaning the litter from 6.1 miles of Adair County and City of Columbia roads. Team one started at the Court House and worked their way all the way down Burkesville Street to the new Wal-Mart before turning onto Hwy 80. Team two worked the By-Pass Hwy 55 to Hwy 61. Together we made a difference! While many members of the Adair County Garden Club were out this morning many of our team members were volunteers that offered to work with us. We would like to thank them all for their time and hard work. The Garden Club will be able to fund many more projects in Adair County because of their efforts. Thank you to Danny Goodin, Wayne Armitage, Glenn Seaton, Billy Joe Fudge, Jean Carlin Donna Rieder, Kristian Wick, Joe Martin, Colleen Bain, Richard Morell, Danny Bragg, and Shea Koenig. Garden Club members out today were Betty Thorsen, Maury Lewis, Dora Stone, Johnie Biggs, Lila Loy, Angie Loy, Ginger Swift, Linda Seaton, Lucille Lemmon, Wendy Butler Burt, Vonnie Kolbenschlag, and Barbara Armitage. The Adair County Garden Club would like to remind you all that littering destroys our beautiful landscapes. All the volunteers out walking the highways today could be better utilized in ways other than cleaning up your mess. If you litter STOP. We have the privilege of living in one of the loveliest areas of our county - have pride in your home and keep it clean. If you would like to make a difference in Adair County we invite you to be a part of the Adair County Garden Club. The Garden Club meets on the 4th Thursday of each month at 1:00 central. Please call Barbara Armitage for more information 270.250.2979. This story was posted on 2008-10-19 03:35:44
