LWC to host presidential, senate race forum By Duane Bonifer, LWC Director of Public Affairs Two Kentucky state legislators will discuss the U.S. presidential election and the Kentucky U.S. senate race at an upcoming forum at Lindsey Wilson College. State Reps. Fred Nesler and Steven Rudy will discuss their views about the presidential election and the senate race between Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell and challenger Bruce Lunsford at 6:30pmCT on Tuesday, Oct. 28, in Lindsey Wilson's V.P. Henry Auditorium. The forum is sponsored by the Lindsey Wilson Bonner Leaders and Student Government Association. The program is open to the public. "The forum is meant to bring awareness to students and community members regarding the presidential election and the Senate race between Mitch McConnell and Bruce Lunsford," said Holli Clevenger, a Lindsey Wilson Bonner Leader from Ashland, KY, who organized the event. "This forum will provide the community with personalized information, a chance to ask questions about the issues, and also get to know the candidates through two people who are very involved in this fall's general election on the state level. "This forum will be a great opportunity for voters to get additional information about the campaigns and help them make an informed decision when they vote on November 4." Nesler, a Democrat from Mayfield, has represented Kentucky's 2nd House District since 1993. Rudy, a Republican from West Paducah, has represented Kentucky's 1st House District since 2005. "It is very important that folks know what the candidates stand for," Nesler said. "That is the only way to make the right decision." Rudy said he also looks forward to discussing the campaigns on Oct. 28."I'm really excited to get on campus and to engage with the students," Rudy said. "Hopefully the information we give them will help them understand why they are casting a certain vote on November 4." The Bonner Leader Program is a national service organization whose goals are to transform the lives of students and members, the life of their campuses, their local communities, and the world through service and leadership.
