Obituary: Gathey Ovalene Stone, 79

Mrs. Stone was a member of the Columbia Baptist Church and a large, respected family. She was a native of Russell County, KY

Gathey Ovalene Stone, 79, Columbia, KY, died Monday, October 13, 2008, at 8:25pmCT, at her home.

The funeral service will be Saturday, October 18, 2008, at 1:00pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Fueral Home with Bro. Norris McCawley officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery.

She was a daughter of the late Johnny Milton and Ruby Jewell Andrews Kearns of Russell County, the widow of Kenneth Stone, and a member of Columbia Baptist Church.

Survivors include the following:
  • Two sons and daughters in law: Lonnie and Peggy Stone, Columbia, KY; Kenneth and Judy Stone, Anderson, IN

  • One daughter: Sandy Farris McGowan and her husband, Troy, Russell Springs, KY

  • Her step-mother: Kathleen Grider Kearns, Burkesville, KY

  • Two brothers: Arvis Kearns, Russell Springs; and Arlious "Buddy" Kearns of Columbia, KY

  • Three sisters: Nellie Pennington, Louisville, KY; Drusella Cunningham and Susie Darlene Stigall, both of Anderson, IN

  • Two half-brothers: Johnny Paul Kearns, Muncie, IN; and William Floyd Kearns of Anderson, IN

  • Two half-sisters: Mary Ann Kocher of Anderson, IN; and Donna Jane Abney, Avon, IN
  • Seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one step great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donnie Lee Stone.

Visitation is after 4:00pmCT, Friday, October 17, 2008, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY.
